long time din blog sia... no time at all....
yesterday was the match against mjc at mjc and having lost to ac in the first match, we had to at least draw mjc for any hopes of remaining in the tournament... before the match, all of us were in a relaxed mood, knowing that we couldn't repeat the mistake of being too tensed up for the ac game when all of us din perform up to standard... although we knew that mjc was a strong team, we were fearless, simply because we knew that we would be fighting together as a team....
though eventually we lost 3-1, the scoreline did not accurately reflect the effort that the hc team put into this match... all of us on the mjc field, in front of the mjc crowd, played the game of our lives... although we went down one nil in the first half, our heads never went down... we continued to play our game with pride, shouted encouragements to lift our team's spirit, and putting in more that 100% effort... in the 2nd half, when yuxiang scored, the whole hc team, our coach, and our faithful supporters were celebrating as though we had just won the world cup.. the whole hc side was cheering like mad, while the mjc crowd went totally silent... after that goal, the whole team was even more fired on and kept pressing on for a win... everyone was shouting words of encouragement to one another.. we had the believe that we, as a team, could perform miracles and do our coach proud... however, it was not to be... with about 10 to 15 minutes remaining, the ref made two crucial errors which led to our downfall.. kenneth was being pushed when the 2nd goal was scored while for the 3rd goal, weetheng was being pinned down by their player, but the ref allowed both goals to stand... even though we were down, we were never out... we kept on fighting till the final whistle..
when the final whistle was finally blown, the hc soccer team hearts were shattered.. we did not deserve to lose considering the effort we put in, but some things are beyong our control(the ref's decisions)... as i walked out of the pitch, coach was standing at the touchline there.. he extended a hand to me and shook my hand and said "good game ak, very good game"... i could see that he was very proud of our team, and i was very glad that we did not let him down for this match... our whole team really respect him, though sometimes he jokes a lot with us and acts like our friend... after the match, something that is not veri often seen in singapore happened... the mjc crowd started to cheer for us, and as they did so, the crowd started standing up to cheer for us... they were giving us a standing ovation.. this is something that i can only dream of or watch on the english premier league on tv and never did i expect that i would be part of the team that could receive it... the hcjc team then applauded and bowed to the hc supporters who came down to support us, because mjc was at pasir ris and very far away, and we really appreciated their support, and also glad that we gave them something to cheer for...
HCJC soccer team walked into MJC with our heads held high, and we left with our heads held high... 15/04/03
